A New Yard for Dalmarnock

2017, Dalmarnock, Glasgow, the council proposes a Masterplan for the entire area to build houses and small service infrastructures in order to “gentrify“ the old industrial neighbourhood.

 

This will lead to the demolition of the majority of the infrastructure and the eviction of the only community in the area: a semi-travelling community of Show People.

The aim of the project is to propose a partnership with the council regarding the current Masterplan, creating a hybrid industrial-housing space which will bring together formal housing taken from the current Masterplan, mobile homes and industrial/workshop spaces suitable for both community to use and share.

The space proposed wants to learn from the Show People yards, plots of land were a strong sense of community is created through living and working in the same space.
